IT Help Guides

IITS has created help guides for those who need assistance with getting email through the outlook client, signing into office phones, or clearing cache from their browser. These guides can be found at https://www.lbcc.edu/ithelpguides.

Apple Devices

If you have an apple device and your email isn’t working, please be sure you are connecting to the LBCC Secure wireless network.

Communication with your Students

Students were recommended to communicate with you via Canvas or LMS Moodle while your email was down. Please make sure you log-in to your Canvas or LMS account to review your inbox.

Clearing Rosters (No-Shows), Drop and Refund Deadlines

For late starting 8-week classes, please drop students from your roster (no-shows) when rosters become available in PeopleSoft.  A grade of W may appear on your roster if the drop-deadline has lapsed, but this will be resolved by IITS/Enrollment Services later in the term.  Please note that drop and refund deadlines for the late-starting 8-week classes have also been extended to Friday, April 20, 2018.  Students can also go to Enrollment Services (A-1075 at LAC, GG-102 at PCC) for assistance in dropping a class without a W.

Adding Classes Update – NEW DEADLINE

For students who are currently attempting to add a late-starting 8-week class and have already received their permission numbers – the new deadline to add a class is Friday, April 20. Please send students to Enrollment Services (A-1075 at LAC, GG-102 at PCC) for assistance to add a class. Students who wish to add a late-starting class should still attend class as usual with their permission number. As we are extending the add class deadline, please allow students to add your class.

Once the systems are back up, faculty should be able to get permission numbers. If necessary, Admissions can assist faculty with a late add.

Extending Assignment Deadlines for Students

Please understand that your students are trying to reach you with questions and to turn in assignments. Per Superintendent-President Reagan Romali, please be flexible during these special circumstances and consider extending the deadline for your course assignments.

Employee LBCC.edu Email

LBCC Employees asked if emails that have been sent to their LBCC.edu email address will be in their inbox once the email system is up. The email may or may not be in your inbox – it depends on when the sender sent the email and how long their email system will attempt to deliver the message. If you are expecting a message during the time email was down, you should contact the sender and ask them to re-send.

If you see a pop-up window regarding a certificate, just close the window. This is a window regarding the new email server.

Encrypted Files

If your files have been encrypted, IITS reports that it is most likely you will not get it back.

April 16 Direct Deposit

LBCC Employees who receive mid-month payroll direct deposits will receive their direct deposit as scheduled on Monday, April 16.

Can I use my DELL computer?

We suspect that file corruption is happening when the computer reboots. Therefore, we recommend leaving the computer in the state that it is in. So if you turned off your computer on Friday, April 13 – leave the computer off.

If your computer is still on from last week, and your files are not corrupted – move your files using Office 365, Dropbox, USB drives, Google drive, or external hard drive. After you backed up your files, and if you unplug your computer from the network, plug it back in and leave it turned on.

Please note that we continue to be cautious and recommend that you not use your USB drive to transfer files between your LBCC computer and non-LBCC computers.

We realize that most people turned their computer off Friday after work. To be cautious, please keep your computer turned off and we will provide more information shortly. Technicians will be dispatched on campus to provide individual assistance. Again, we ask for patience.

Is it okay to bring in your non-LBCC personal laptops and connect to our wireless network?

Yes.

Can I use my Apple computer?

Yes.

What about my phone or tablet?

LBCC owned Surface Pro’s or devices using Windows might be corrupted and will need to be reimaged. Android and Apple Devices should be fine.

When can I use my desktop computer?

IITS is creating a new backend infrastructure before computers can be re-imaged and all Dell computers will need to be re-imaged. You do not have to put in a HelpDesk ticket. Technicians will be out to service your computer. We anticipate re-imaging computers by Wednesday, April 18.

When can I use my laptop computer?

If you are at LAC and you have a school-issued laptop, you can drop it off at the HelpDesk in Building L, Room L-139 starting noon, Monday, April 16. HelpDesk is open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The HelpDesk will take your information and call you when your laptop is ready to be picked up. If you prefer, leave your laptop at your desk and we will reimage it. You do not have to put in a Helpdesk ticket.

If you are at PCC, leave your school issued laptop at your desk and we will reimage it. You do not have to put in a Helpdesk ticket.

My files on Office 365 were corrupted, now what do I do?

If your files on Office 365 were corrupted, put in a Helpdesk ticket and we will help you restore them.
