Notification of Positive COVID-19 Cases on Campus
LBCC is aware of two students at the Liberal Arts Campus Building C and one student at the Pacific Coast Campus Building II who have tested positive for COVID-19. There is no evidence that transmission occurred on Campus. The students are enrolled in the essential labs, which are a very small number of classes that are permitted to meet on Campus during the closure. The students are receiving medical care, and their classmates and faculty have been notified. The specific on-campus essential lab classes that the students recently attended are suspended for a period of time. All online and unaffected on-campus essential lab classes will continue as scheduled.
Recently enacted law will require us to provide public notifications of positive COVID-19 cases as of January 2021, and we are sharing this information now in an abundance of caution and in an effort to be transparent.
The District’s essential labs follow the strictest protocols to help ensure the health and safety of the limited number of people who are authorized to be on Campus. All spaces are sanitized regularly. Additionally, all people authorized to be on Campus are required to wear masks and maintain a six-foot distance from each other.
Just a reminder, if you are a student who tests positive for COVID-19 or has questions, please do not come onto Campus and contact Student Health Services at 562-938-4210. Employees should contact Human Resources at 562-938-5250 or COVID-HRhelp@lbcc.edu.
As you are no doubt aware, Los Angeles County is experiencing a high number of cases and has advised not gathering with others outside of your household over the Thanksgiving holidays. Together, we will help and support each other.
