Who We Are

Long Beach City College is proud to launch its first cohort of College Corps Fellows in 2026-27.

College Corps is a California Governor’s Initiative administered by California Volunteers in partnership with colleges and universities committed to civic and community engagement. The program is building the next generation of civic leaders by connecting students with meaningful community service opportunities that strengthen leadership skills, expand career pathways, and help reduce college debt.

What We’re Looking For

• Passion for working in partnership with communities to make positive change
• Flexibility to work in different areas and adapt to changing circumstances
• Growth mindset and eagerness to try new things
• Interest in connecting with and learning from other students and partners across the state
• Willingness to be an ambassador for the Fellowship on campus and beyond.

To be considered for a College Corps position, you must:

• Be 17 years or older by the start of your service term 
• Hold a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Must be a full-time enrolled undergraduate student
• Must be in good academic standing
• Must be able to commit to the program for one full academic year
• Be a citizen, national, or lawful US permanent resident (or AB-540 eligible Dreamer) 
• Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check (unless an AB-540 eligible Dream Act student
  Regardless of whether you are required to complete a background check, you must NOT have been convicted of a sex offense and/or murder

What You’ll Gain

College Corps Fellows will receive the following benefits:

• Earn up to $10,000 in financial support
  Receive living stipends and education awards to help support your academic and career goals.
• Gain hands-on professional experience
  Support the work of government agencies and nonprofit organizations focused on Climate Action, K-12 Education, and Food Insecurity.
• Complete 450 hours of meaningful service
  Develop leadership skills, strengthen civic engagement, and gain valuable real-world experience that prepares you for your future career.
• (TBD) Academic Credit for coursework or pathway requirements
