LBCC, Biden Administration and Costco Partner to Host Vaccination Clinics
In response to the Biden Administration’s outreach efforts to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to all who are eligible, Long Beach City College (LBCC) has been selected to serve as a vaccination clinic location.
This summer, both campuses of LBCC will be host clinics. Costco pharmacies will administer the Pfizer vaccine to any individuals, age 12 and older. There are no restrictions on residency, and you don’t need to be a member of Costco to receive the vaccination.
“We are honored that the White House selected Long Beach City College to serve our community during this time when we try to make the vaccination available to as many people as possible,” said Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees President Uduak-Joe Ntuk. “We hope that by hosting clinics at our campuses, our students, employees, and neighbors will find LBCC as a quick, easy and convenient place to receive their vaccination.”
LBCC will host the clinics on Friday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays to encourage those who may be working or too busy during the weekdays to receive their vaccination.
LBCC clinic dates/hours will be:
- Fri, June 25 (first dose) from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sat, July 17 (second dose) from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Liberal Arts Campus.
- Sat, June 26 (first dose) from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Pacific Coast Campus.
People can sign up for an appointment through www.lbcc.edu/vaccination-clinics which will take those interested to the Costco reservation system.
“At the core of LBCC’s mission is to serve our community,” said LBCCD Interim Superintendent-President Mike Muñoz. “LBCC will continue to be a good community partner and help as many people as possible throughout this pandemic.”
Costco staff will perform health screenings and administer the two Pfizer does that will be given out on the two required visits, 21 days apart. Costco pharmacists will follow current CDC and local health department recommendations.
Long Beach City College requires that all visitors must wear a mask when they step onto campus.
LBCC will provide free parking in Parking Structure J at the Liberal Arts Campus and Lot 2 at the Pacific Coast Campus during clinic days.
Participants would be eligible to enter in an opportunity drawing to win a basket from Costco that includes a $60 Costco gift card and other items.
Since March 2020, LBCC has developed partnerships with the City of Long Beach Health and Human Service Department to host COVID-19 testing and rapid assessment locations at the two campuses. LBCC Nursing instructors and students have also volunteered hours to administer vaccinations at the Long Beach Convention Center.
