Representatives from Long Beach City College and the Port of Long Beach broke bread together in the LBCC Bistro in late November. The two partners celebrated the Port becoming the Long Beach College Promise first industry partner, and the Port of Long Beach Maritime Center of Excellence at Long Beach City College.

Twenty Port representatives joined 20 representatives of LBCC including Long Beach Community College District Board Members, LBCC faculty and administrators for lunch. Attendees discussed the future for the partnership, how to best train students for internships, and employment opportunities at the Port.

The Port of Long Beach Maritime Center of Excellence at LBCC is already accepting applications from community members who are interested in taking classes in the global logistics and supply chain industries. Classes will begin in February and will be taught at the Pacific Coast Campus. For more information and to register for classes, please visit the Maritime Center at LBCC or call (562) 938-3248.
