Exercise, physical activity, and sports: Whether competitive or recreational, these activities are about movement and wellness. Department of Kinesiology & Health students learn about the science of human movement, anatomy, and physiology. Athletic courses range from the fundamentals of various sports to intercollegiate competition. Kinesiology courses include fitness and conditioning, adapted physical education, first aid, and injury prevention, coaching and officiating, and other professional training.
The department also offers associate degrees and certificates, paving the way for students to transfer to four-year institutions, enter the workforce or move up the professional ladder. Courses prepare students to be physical activity specialists who pursue careers in fitness, health, education, community service, and medicine. Related occupations include PE teachers, personal trainers, rehabilitation therapists, biomedical researchers, and physicians.
