LBCC Breaks Ground for New $75M Performing Arts Facility
The all-new structure will replace existing Buildings G and H on the Liberal Arts Campus.

Long Beach City College (LBCC) broke ground for a future state-of-the-art music and theatre complex today during a celebration at the Liberal Arts Campus. The new 67,000 square foot, $75-million Performing Arts Center will house the LBCC’s Performing Arts, Music, Dance, and Radio/TV/Broadcasting departments and is scheduled to be open for classes by Spring Semester 2026.

Building M is a new three-story multi-disciplinary building that houses academic areas such as Language Arts, Foreign Language, Reading, Computer & Office Studies, as well as the Disabled Student Programs and Services program.

On Wednesday, April 12, the Long Beach City College Public Affairs and Marketing Department (LBCC) walked away with multiple awards from the Community College Public Relations Organization’s 35th Annual Conference (CCPRO), held at the Universal City Sheraton. The team, represented by Carl Kemp, Executive Director of Public Affairs and Marketing, and Stacey Toda, Associate Director of Communications and Community Engagement, collected a total of six awards in a crowded field of all 116 California’s community colleges and won the top prize in three categories.

The Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) and Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) dignitaries and athletes gathered at the College’s new Kinesiology Labs and Aquatic Center on Fri., March 23 to announce a new partnership that will allow more than 80 SOSC athletes to practice at Long Beach City College’s (LBCC) Liberal Arts Campus.

The event celebrated both the new partnership and highlighted Ivan Parrott, the SOSC athlete who took the initiative to make it happen.

(Long Beach, CA, September 21, 2022) Raise The Barr (RTB) and Long Beach City College (LBCC) announced an innovative partnership to launch a pilot program that will coordinate care and housing for low-income single-parent students and their children. This is the first time the two organizations have partnered together with the goal of improving academic outcomes with a program that focuses on LBCC single-parent students and their families.
