Fashion Club
Club Mission
The Fashion Club is a LBCC club that invites students to get to know each other because they are the future of the fashion industry. Some club activities include going on field trips to fashion related events such as the LA Textile Show and inviting fashion industry experts and alumni to speak to club members about their careers. The club has also taken Spring Break fashion tours in NYC. One of our most important responsibilities is to sponsor a biennial LBCC fashion event that showcases the work of our talented fashion program students.
Club Information
Fashion Club offers a wide range of hands-on activities that connect students with the fashion industry and campus community. Members attend field trips to the L.A. Textile Show and visit the Apparel Merchandising and Management (AMM) Program at Cal Poly Pomona during their open house.
The club regularly invites fashion industry professionals and alumni to speak about their career paths, providing students with valuable networking opportunities. Each year, Fashion Student Ambassadors from Cal State Long Beach visit the club to share information about their programs and answer questions from students interested in transferring.
Fashion Club also hosts several fundraising pop-up boutiques on campus throughout the year, selling items sourced or handmade by members during club meetings. Past events have included gently used clothing swaps, karaoke nights, collaborative crafting with the Crochet Club, macrame workshops, and portfolio development sessions.
One of the club’s most important responsibilities is to support the biennial LBCC Fashion Show or fashion-related event, which showcases the creativity and skills of our talented fashion program students. Students also help organize a professional photo shoot to generate social media marketing materials and portfolio-ready images.
The fashion show is produced by students in FASH 41: Fashion Promotion and FASH 240: Fashion Promotion and Management. These students are involved in every stage of production—developing the show theme and visual branding, organizing a styled photo shoot, designing marketing materials, building the set, casting runway models, and hiring hair stylists, makeup artists, and a DJ. They also create and manage a budget and help run the show under faculty guidance.
The event features a panel of fashion industry judges who award scholarships in multiple categories. A professional photographer captures each look on the runway, while LBCC’s TV & Radio program broadcasts the runway show live on YouTube.
It’s truly a night to remember!
