INTRODUCING THE NEW COMMON COURSE NUMBERING

New course numbering in being implemented at LBCC beginning Fall 2025. Long Beach City College is implementing the California-mandated Common Course Numbering (CCN) system. This initiative ensures that all California community colleges use the same course number and prefix for transfer-level courses with similar content. The goal is to simplify transfer, reduce student confusion, and align with CSU and UC systems.

You may notice changes to course prefixes and numbers for many commonly offered general education and transfer-level courses. This change does not affect course content or transferability.

Visit the California Community College’s Chancellor’s Office for more information about the statewide initiative.

  • New course prefixes are adopted to match systemwide naming.
  • Transferable courses now share identical identifiers across all CCC campuses.
