Join us as we kick off Pride month with attorney, historian, and activist Zaylore Stout who will draw a through line from historical events to today’s happenings. LGBTQ+ curriculums, transgender athletes, “Don’t Say Gay” bills, and more will all be up for discussion. Join us for this spirit lifting lecture, discussion, and book signing. The book will be available for purchase on site.

Pride Month Kickoff Event

Date/Time: Wednesday, June 1, 2022, 12:00PM – 2:00PM
In-Person Location: LAC – Outside of the A building facing Carson

Join us as we kick off Pride Month with some study fuel to help you get through your final exams, music, a resource fair, clothing drive/swap, free HIV testing, and free haircuts from a local barber (reservations required). 

To make a reservation for a free haircut, please sign up at the Info Desk in the Nordic Lounge (located in the E Building at LAC). A $5 refundable deposit is required to make a reservation. Sign up today, space is limited!

Harvey Milk Movie Screening

Date/Time: Friday, June 3, 2022 at 6:00PM
In-Person Location: PCC, EE-107

Harvey Milk was an outspoken human rights activist and one of the first openly gay U.S. politicians elected to public office; even long after his assassination in 1978, he continues to inspire disenfranchised people around the world. One of the first feature documentaries to address gay life in America, the film is a work of advocacy itself, bringing Milk’s message of hope and equality to a wider audience.
 


Meet Your Village Drop In – Meet N Greet

Meet Your Village is an event where LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and faculty can discuss the relevant issues and celebrate the year together. Share your knowledge and joy through rich discussions. This event will also be held over Zoom.

Film Screening – The Trans List

Join the Pride Month by viewing The Trans List film by Laverne Cox. The event will include a screening of the film, as well as an opportunity for reflection. Participants have a chance to receive free lunch. Schedule below:

Meet Your Village Drop In – Power Blossoms

Join us to create birthday cards for incarcerated LGBTQIA+ folks. Along with the organization Power Blossoms, we will use digital or physical mediums to bring joy to someone in need. This event will also be held over Zoom.

Meet Your Village Drop In – Self-Care

Join us for a little self-care with your community. Drop by to practice mindfulness and movement, grab a snack, relax with coloring pages or a puzzle, and chat with a friend. We will also have activities from the Audre Lorde Project to clarify the path to self and community care. This event will also be held over Zoom.
