2026 Viking Summer Voyage

Viking Summer Voyage (VSV) is an 8-day summer transition program designed for students who are part of Long Beach College Promise & Viking Advantage to get a head start on their college journey. Students choose from one of two experiences offered based on their major and take a 1-Unit Counseling Course to gain tools for career success, attend an ungraded Math Workshop to build skills and confidence, and get introduced to key campus resources and support services.
VSV Option #1: CAREER EXPERIENCE
- For students pursuing general majors, a Career Technical Education (CTE), or with an undecided academic goal
- Prepare for college and career success through a 1 unit, graded, transferable, Career Exploration Course (COUNS 48)
- Meet friends and your college mentor through Daily Homeroom
- $600 Book Grant + Free Lunch
VSV Option #2: DESTINO – STEM Experience
- For students pursuing majors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
- Participate in Science Exploration + Prepare for STEM success through a 1 unit, graded, transferable, Career Exploration Course (COUNS 48)
- Meet friends and your college mentor through Daily Homeroom
- $600 Book Grant + Free Lunch
VSV SESSION DATES: Students can choose from one of two in-person sessions:
- Session 1: July 6 - 16, Liberal Arts Campus (Mon-Thu, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
- Session 2: July 20 - July 30, Liberal Arts Campus (Mon-Thu, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Requirements to Participate
- First-Time College Students (Includes Direct High School Graduates & Indirect Students)
- Complete the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 FAFSA or CA Dream Act
- Complete the Participation Agreement for Long Beach College Promise or Viking Advantage
- Register 12+ units for Fall 2026
- Attend VSV Virtual Registration Workshop to enroll in COUNS 48 course & attend Mandatory Meeting
Mandatory Meeting (Orientation)
Registered students must participate in a Mandatory In-Person Meeting that will serve as a program orientation.
