Long Beach City College hosts several recurring events to help students smoothly transition from high school to college. Our goal is to provide you with application and registration assistance and connect you with various resources that will support your academic and personal progress. Check out some of our upcoming events below!
SUMMER/FALL
Counseling: Student Educational Planning
Student Educational Planning appointments are an opportunity for students to meet with a counselor for 15 minutes by telephone. During the appointment, counselors will discuss course placement, educational goals, and appropriate course selection. Before signing up for this event, students must complete the Online Orientation, Course Placement Results (Guided Placement Tool), and Participation Agreement on the Viking Student System.
Students may also book Drop-In Counseling, a first-come, first-serve service. Wait times will vary and counseling availability is subject to change. If you do not see any available appointments, please check back the next day.
Registration Workshops
This workshop offers counseling and course enrollment support for new and continuing students.
LBCC Express Day
LBCC Express Days are an opportunity for students to meet with a counselor via telephone and receive registration assistance over Zoom. Before signing up for this event, students must complete the Online Orientation, Course Placement Results (Guided Placement Tool), & Participation Agreement on the Viking Student System.
Viking Summer Voyage
Students who are a part of Long Beach College Promise & Viking Advantage will participate in an 8-day in-person summer transition program and choose from one of two experiences to gain the necessary tools to be successful in college and beyond.
If you would like to register for Viking Summer Voyage, please complete the following steps:
- STEP 1: Record your interest by submitting an RSVP HERE.
- STEP 2: A staff member will reach out to you to complete your registration via zoom.
- STEP 3: Attend the Mandatory Meeting on Wednesday, June 28 (12:30 – 2:00pm).

Welcome Day
Virtual Welcome Day is a one-day event that will help new students transition from high school to college. Students can meet new friends through a welcome session, attend a very fun student panel, and complete very informative student success modules.
By attending the entire event, students will receive a $100 book voucher. To earn the book voucher students must meet the requirements of Viking Advantage or Long Beach College Promise. Lastly, we will be offering a family workshop, Embracing Your New Role As a “College Parent” (English & Spanish). Family, parents, and guardians are welcome to attend!
WINTER/SPRING
College Application Workshop
This workshop is designed to help new students apply to Long Beach City College. Within 24-72 hours, applicants should receive their college acceptance email and a unique Viking ID# will be provided.
New Student Orientation Workshop
After applying to Long Beach City College, the next step is to complete the New Student Orientation. This workshop is designed to help first-time college students satisfy this requirement. During the orientation, students will learn about LBCC, its academic programs, student expectations, and support services. Completing the New Student Orientation is a requirement to register for classes.
Priority Registration Workshops
This event is hosted to help students register for classes. Services include enrollment assistance, counseling/educational planning (first come basis), and course registration.

College Promise Family Night
The event is free and open to prospective students and their families. Participants will learn more about Viking Advantage, Long Beach College Promise, and Promise 2.0. Families will also learn about how they can complete the FAFSA/Dream Act Application.
LatinX Heritage Family Night
The event is free and open to LatinX prospective students and their families. The program will be in Spanish and will cover Viking Advantage, Long Beach College Promise, and Promise 2.0. Families will also learn about programs that are dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of Latin students.
Black Heritage Family Night
The event is free and open to Black prospective students and their families. Participants will learn more about Viking Advantage, Long Beach College Promise, and Promise 2.0. Families will also learn about programs that are dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of Black students.
APID Family Night
The event is free and open to Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi prospective students and their families. The program will cover Long Beach College Promise and Viking Advantage. Families will also learn about programs that are dedicated to enhance the cultural and educational experiences of Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi Students.
LBCC Viking Preview Day
Get ready for the first year at LBCC! Viking Preview Day is an event open to all incoming students & their families. The event will provide guests with the opportunity to:
- Learn more about LBCC’s academic programs/majors, athletics, student clubs and activities
- Learn how to transfer to a 4-year university
- Meet our LBCC Success Team comprised of faculty, counselors, and staff
- Take a tour of our campus
