Computer Technology

This Associate Degree or Certificate of Achievement is a two-year program leading to the Associate in Science (A.S.) degree. It is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of computer-related fields. Students wishing a bachelor’s degree (transfer program) should meet with a counselor to discuss how this program fully articulates with the CSU or UC system.

Certificate of Achievement, Computer Technology 

The Certificate of Achievement in Computer Technology is designed to provide students with a broad base of software development skills to prepare them for software engineering and web development careers. Students gain practical skills in Java and Visual Basic programming and the development of dynamic web services. Students will also study software design, computer usage, and computer hardware to ensure broad-based competencies.

Internet Computing Core Competencies (IC3) Global Standard 5 (GS5) is a certification that is comprised of three exams: Computing Fundamentals that provides a global standard, digital standard for industry certification.  IC3 includes concepts and skills that apply to almost any school or career pathway, it’s the ideal solution for any student or jobseeker looking to validate their digital skills.

The Computer Technology major meets the needs of business-minded students specializing in information systems. It provides students with a variety of technical skills students need for transfer to a four-year university business information program. The program prepares students not only for transfer but also qualifies them for positions such as help desk technicians, computer support specialist, computer technician, and programming tester.
