COVID-19 Update: Essential Personnel, Faculty Resource Page, Available Student Resources
Faculty & Staff

Notice

Dear Colleagues,

This is your daily COVID-19 update.

Essential Personnel

To protect ourselves and our loved ones, LBCC’s Liberal Arts and Pacific Coast Campuses are closed to all but essential personnel. Each area has identified a select number of essential personnel who must continue to report to campus to support critical ongoing operations, such as: monitoring LBCC’s computer equipment necessary for teaching and working remotely; processing the mail; handling payroll; and deep cleaning LBCC’s facilities. These employees are scheduled to be on campus for the least amount of time as possible to ensure social distancing. This select group has received a letter authorizing them to travel during Los Angeles County’s “Safer at Home Order” and to be on campus. Facilities is ensuring campus safety by locking all buildings not scheduled to be in use. The campus security provider, the Long Beach Police Department, also receives the list. Each area will revise its list on a weekly basis.

Unless an employee is on the Essential Personnel list, their OMNI code will not work.  In the event that someone has an urgent need to access campus and has not been authorized via the weekly Essential Personnel List, they must e-mail their area vice president and cc their immediate supervisor to request access, clearly explaining the emergency.  If the request is approved, the area VP will e-mail Erin Murphy, who will inform LBPD, Facilities, and the Vice President of Business Services.  Please note that this approval process may take 24-48 hours.

A More User-Friendly Faculty Resources Page

An updated Faculty Resource page will be launched later today. This page, that will be located on the COVID-19 Faculty page, has been re-organized to be more user-friendly, and more resources have been added.

Available Student Resources

A reminder that there are a number of resources available for students including:

Adobe Creative Cloud

As a result of the campus closure, student access to Adobe Creative Cloud in labs and classrooms is not available. However, Adobe has provided temporary at-home access for students and faculty, so that they can continue their work remotely. Click here for step-by-step instructions to access Adobe Creative Cloud.
