Long Beach City College hosts several recurring events to help students with their applications and registration. For more information, please feel free to download any of the flyers for our upcoming registration events.
College Application – Virtual Session
This workshop is designed to help new students with the Summer/Fall college applications.
New Student Orientation – Virtual Session
The New Student Orientation is designed to inform students about Long Beach City College, its academic programs, student expectation, and support services.
The orientation is required to register for classes.
La Promesa: LatinX Heritage Family Night
The event is free and open to LatinX prospective students and their families. The program will be in Spanish and will cover Viking Advantage, Long Beach College Promise, and Promise 2.0. Families will also learn about programs that are dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of Latin students.
LBCC Promise: Family Night
The event is free and open to prospective students and their families. Participants will learn more about Viking Advantage, Long Beach College Promise, and Promise 2.0. Families will also learn about how they can complete the FAFSA/Dream Act Application.
LBCC Promise: Black Heritage Family Night
The event is free and open to Black prospective students and their families. Participants will learn more about Viking Advantage, Long Beach College Promise, and Promise 2.0. Families will also learn about programs that are dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of Black students.
MyMajors Workshops
The workshop will help new students explore and narrow their major options using the Mymajors self-assessment.
Counseling: Student Educational Planning
Student Educational Planning appointments are an opportunity for students to meet with a counselor for 15 minutes by telephone. During the appointment, counselors will discuss course placement, educational goals, and appropriate course selection. Before signing up for this event, students must complete the Online Orientation, Course Placement Results (Guided Placement Tool), and Participation Agreement on the Viking Student System.
Students may also book Drop-In Counseling, a first come, first-serve service. Wait times will vary and counseling availability is subject to change. If you do not see any available appointments, please check back the next day.

LBCC Express Day – Virtual Session
LBCC Express Days are an opportunity for students to meet with a counselor via telephone and receive registration assistance over Zoom. Before signing up for this event, students must complete the Online Orientation, Course Placement Results (Guided Placement Tool), & Participation Agreement on the Viking Student System.

LBCC Promise: APID Family Night
The event is free and open to Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi prospective students and their family. The program will cover Long Beach College Promise, and Viking Advantage. Families will also learn about programs that are dedicated to enhance the cultural and educational experiences of Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi Students.
LBCC Viking Preview Day
Get ready for the first year at LBCC! Viking Preview Day is an event open to all incoming students & their families. The event will provide guests with the opportunity to:
- Learn more about LBCC’s academic programs/majors, athletics, student clubs and activities
- Learn how to transfer to a 4-year university
- Meet our LBCC Success Team comprised of faculty, counselors, and staff
- Take a tour of our campus
Viking Summer Voyage
If you would like to register for Viking Summer Voyage, please complete the following steps:
- STEP 1 – Record your interest.
- STEP 2 – Meet with VSV to register via zoom.
- STEP 3 – Attend the Mandatory Meeting.

Welcome Day
Virtual Welcome Day is a one-day event that will help new students transition from high school to college. Students can meet new friends through a welcome session, attend a very fun student panel, and complete very informative student success modules.
By attending the entire event, students will receive a $100 book voucher. To earn the book voucher students must meet the requirements of Viking Advantage or Long Beach College Promise. Lastly, we will be offering a family workshop, Embracing Your New Role As a “College Parent” (English & Spanish). Family, parents, and guardians are welcome to attend!
