The Department of History and Political Science takes students on a deep dive into culture, civilization, and government through the ages. The department’s history courses teach students about historical events and literacy for insight into how our world got to where we are today and how we are moving into the future. The department’s political science courses teach the fundamentals of government in the U.S. and abroad, as well as political theory, the U.S. Constitution, and our legal system. Both programs offer Associate of Arts degrees and prepare students to advance to four-year institutions. Additionally, political science students may earn certificates of accomplishment to increase their competitiveness for government-related jobs that do not require a four-year degree.
