Save the Dates for Movies on the Beach at LBCC – Summer 2025

Join us for LBCC’s summer movie nights under the stars! Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for free outdoor screenings at both campuses. On Thurs., July 17, enjoy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off at the Liberal Arts Campus. Then on Thurs., Aug. 14, head over to the Trades, Technology, and Community Learning Campus for Guardians of the Galaxy.

Both movies will begin at sunset, between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. All students, friends, and families are welcome.

From Heaven to Hell – LBCC Choral Concert on Sat., May 31

Experience an unforgettable evening of music as the LBCC Viking Chorale, Viking Singers, soloists, and orchestra present Choral Music from Heaven to Hell on Saturday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The program features Vivaldi’s Gloria, selections from Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and a bonus performance of Kyle Pederson’s A Vision Unfolding.

Join us for Roots to Runway, a celebration of culture, creativity, and community on Tues., May 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in T-1200 at the Liberal Arts Campus. The Wellness Committee is hosting a Sound Bath, and you’re warmly invited! Imagine a spa day for your senses, where melodic vibrations from musical bowls take the place of a massage, washing over you and melting away stress. Federal Work Study Orientation 2025-2026

This notice is to inform all campus departments of the upcoming Long Beach City College’s Federal Work-Study Supervisor Orientation.  Attendance at this orientation is “mandatory” for all departments who will be requesting Federal Work-Study students for the 2025-2026 school year, from 10 a.m. – noon, Wed., May 14 in W-201, LAC.   Attendees will receive priority consideration for FWS position assignments.

New Hybrid Location Schedule for Free Yoga Wednesdays

All are welcome to participate in the Free Yoga classes on Wednesdays, at noon at LAC. Classes will continue in the Q Building gym except for the last Wednesday of the month. April 30 and May 28 will be held on the front lawn of LAC. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, try to arrive 10 minutes early.

Be prepared to present your signed waiver on your mobile device upon arrival and bring a yoga mat/towel, and water. Yoga mats will not be provided.

Congratulations to the Child Development Centers!

Both LBCC Child Development Centers have received the highest possible rating of 5 from Quality Start Los Angeles. QSLA is Los Angeles’ county-wide Quality Improvement System (QIS) designed to empower early learning providers to build upon and improve the quality of care they provide to children ages birth to five.  Achieving a 5 is the highest possible score, and a monumental accomplishment!

Realizing the impact of trauma on our student population and the effect secondary trauma has on our faculty, staff, and administration, LBCC is committed to recognizing signs of trauma in all community members and responding appropriately with evidenced-based strategies for building resilience and growth. LBCC aims to reduce community re-traumatization through training and workshops that have been recorded for you to watch at your convenience.
