LBCC Earns 2020 Champion of Higher Education Award
Campaign for College Opportunity recognizes LBCC for Transfer Degree Conferrals

Long Beach City College (LBCC) has been named a 2020 Champion of Higher Education for the third time in four years by the Campaign for College Opportunity.

“LBCC is one of the top performers in Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) conferrals,” according to Michele Siqueiros, President of the Campaign for College Opportunity. “We are proud to recognize LBCC’s dedicated leadership in working to ensure a strong transfer pathway.”

LBCC Alumnus Selected for National Outstanding Alumni Award

Long Beach City College (LBCC) alumnus Dr. Jean-Bernard Durand received during a virtual ceremony on September 10 the 2020 Outstanding Alumni Award from the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), the primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges. Dr. Durand is one of four community college alumni from across the country chosen to receive the honor this year.

A government contract presents a business with the opportunity for steady revenue and a chance to serve the country. But those contracts also come with reporting and evaluation requirements that many small businesses do not have the staff to meet. As a result, many government contracts go to larger firms like Boeing or Raytheon, leaving small businesses out of the picture.
