LB College Promises 2.0 Competes at Prestigious 2019 Bellwether Awards
Earns top ten finalist position for national community college honor

Considered as the equivalent to the Academy Award for community colleges nationwide, Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) placed in the top 10 of more than 1,000 community colleges as a 2019 Bellwether finalist for its Long Beach College Promise 2.0 Program at the Community College Futures Assembly in San Antonio, Texas. Of the 1,000 programs reviewed by Bellwether, this puts LBCCD in the top one percent of all community colleges nationwide.

LBCC Instructor Crowned Mrs. Elite Southern California

Congratulations to LBCC adjunct instructor Diana Galias for being named the newly crowned Mrs. Elite Southern California.

The Mrs. Elite competition is sponsored by the Woman of Achievement (WOA), a pageant system for married women to be recognized for academic achievement, self-improvement and community work. Galias has been teaching at LBCC for 30 years in the Kinesiology program and directs the College’s successful Cheer Team.

She now qualifies for the Mrs. Elite United States competition and has the opportunity to compete for the national title.

LBCC and the Port Celebrate Partnership

Representatives from Long Beach City College and the Port of Long Beach broke bread together in the LBCC Bistro in late November. The two partners celebrated the Port becoming the Long Beach College Promise first industry partner, and the Port of Long Beach Maritime Center of Excellence at Long Beach City College.

Helping LBCC Students in Need

It was a team effort when the Helping Homeless Student Associate Group of the LBCC Foundation, the office of Public Affairs and Marketing, and Student Health Services recently organized a resource fair and luncheon for students.

LBCC Heads 26 Miles Across the Sea to Avalon

A group of Long Beach City College representatives recently spent the day at the K-12 school on Santa Catalina Island.

The Avalon K-12 School has an enrollment of more than 600 students who face several challenges in furthering their educational opportunities after graduating high school.

CampusBird to Take Flight at LBCC
New virtual mapping system to provide a modern user-experience for students in Spring 2019

Beginning in the Spring of 2019, finding the way around both campuses of Long Beach City College will become easier as mobile-friendly maps come to life through CampusBird.

LBCC’s buildings and grounds will be seen through a virtual mapping system providing 2D renderings using satellite imagery when one clicks the campus maps link located at the footer of the LBCC homepage.
