Ntuk, Chico to lead LBCCD Trustees and Chico, Malauulu Sworn In

At its Annual Organization, Oath of Office, and Regular Session meeting on Monday, December 21, the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees elected Uduak-Joe Ntuk as President of the LBCCD Board of Trustees, and new Trustee Herlinda Chico was elected Vice President. Chico was sworn-in to represent Area 4 of the College District, and Trustee Vivian Malauulu was sworn-in for her second term.

LBCCD Appoints New Personnel Commissioner
The Board of Trustees Appointed Robyn Gordon-Peterson

The Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees appointed Robyn Gordon-Peterson as their representative on the Long Beach City College Personnel Commission.

The Personnel Commission is comprised of three District residents who work with the governing board and College administrators in the hiring of District Classified Professional employees and establishing best practices in personnel administration.

Chromebooks & Hotspots Given to LBCC Students
LBCC Foundation helps provide technology to students with donations

Long Beach City College (LBCC) distributed 100 Chromebooks and 50 hotspots to students on Friday, October 9, thanks to a donation to the LBCC Foundation.

The Long Beach Community Foundation, human I-T and the LBCC Foundation partnered together to provide the technology, while LBCC’s Student Services area matched the recipients and arranged for the drive-up distribution at the Liberal Arts Campus.

LBCCD Seeking Applicants for Personnel Commission

The Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees is seeking applicants to fill its appointed seat on the College’s Personnel Commission. Applications are due Friday, September 25, 2020 before 4:00 pm.

The Personnel Commission is a non-partisan public body responsible for the administration of a “merit system” for the selection, retention, and promotion of classified (non-teaching) employees in the LBCCD. By law, it is composed of three members appointed for three-year terms with the term of one member expiring each year.

Instruction to Remain Mostly Online for Spring 2021

Long Beach City College officials have announced that Spring 2021 semester classes will be conducted mostly online. The Spring semester will take place Feb. 8 – June 9, 2021.

The College has kept both campuses closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, holding the remainder of Spring, Summer intersession, and the current Fall 2020 semester primarily online.
