Colleague Awards

Classified Employee of the Year

The Classified Employee of the Year Award was established through a resolution at the May 2008 Board of Governors meeting. The Award has been given out annually since May 2009 to honor community college classified employees who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to professionalism and community colleges. Recipients are nominated by members of their college/district community and endorsed by their local Board of Trustees.

Distinguished Online Educator

The Distinguished Online Educator Award was founded in 2015 by the Office of Online Learning & Educational Technology (OLET) and the newly formed Online Education Committee.

Effective online education and learning require a great deal of time and dedication. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor online faculty members who provide innovative and exemplary practices in their online course(s), increasing student equity, engagement, and success.

Roueche Excellence

John E. and Suanne D. Roueche, leaders in the community college field and early proponents of the idea that teachers have major responsibility for how well students perform in the classroom, have been partners and friends of the League for Innovation in the Community College for over thirty-five years. In recognition of the long tradition of excellence in community college teaching and leadership, the League established the John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Awards. These awards celebrate outstanding contributions and leadership by community college faculty and staff.

Outstanding Colleague

Each year, faculty, administrators and staff have the opportunity to honor fellow co-workers by nominating someone that they feel has made an outstanding contribution to Long Beach City College. This award stands out as a coveted recognition because the recipients are nominated and selected by their colleagues and peers. Members of the College’s Renewal Committee review all of the nominations and ultimately select representatives who best exemplify a colleague’s exceptional knowledge and abilities in the performance of their job, as well as campus leadership roles.
