Labor Center

Overview

Labor Center

The Labor Center at the Pacific Coast Campus provides student-focused experiences and events in partnership with industry and union leaders. At the Labor Center, students can learn about real-world work opportunities, get tips about how to navigate the process of joining a union and finding a sponsor, and attend lectures and workshops where they can network with labor leaders and professionals with on-the-job experience. LBCC is proud to welcome industry and union partners to campus as we work together to prepare the future workforce.

The virtual grand opening event of LBCC’s Labor Center

The virtual grand opening event on September 24, 2020, featured labor icon Dolores Huerta, and since then has hosted many events, such as Union Panel Meet and Greet, Noche de Arte: Arts Showcase and Careers event, Supporting African American Workers & Economic Justic Panel Discussion and Networking Event, Rosie the Riveter Day panel discussion about women in the labor movement and unionized work, César Chávez Day events, and more!

LBCC has a long history of providing the tools for generations of people to support themselves and their families with work in aerospace, construction, education, healthcare, hospitality, maritime, rail, trades, and other industries, from the men and women working on assembly lines in the World War II era to today’s dedicated and capable workforce. The Labor Center celebrates this history and looks forward to the opportunities of the future.
