Foster & Kinship Care Education

The Foster & Kinship Care Education Program is a statewide program funded by the California Community College Chancellors Office, providing a variety of training programs for foster parents (parent education), and specialized training for relative caregivers, including D-Rate (Severely Emotionally Disturbed), F-Rate (Medically Fragile), Basic and In-service training. KEPS Orientation is offered to support relative care providers with their involvement with child protective services.

Becoming a Foster Parent

The Resource Family Approval (RFA) training program is operated by The Community College Foundation (TCCF) through a contract with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This program consists of a series of training workshops for potential Resource Parents (Foster/Adoptive). The Community College Foundation has provided pre-service training to thousands of potential Resource parents since 1989.
