Peter Knapp
Professor, Music
Peter Knapp completed his Bachelor’s in Music in Education in 1992 from Elmhurst College. In 1996, he finished his first Master’s degree in Music Theory at Ohio State University with an emphasis in music psychology, completing an experimental study on absolute pitch. Two years later, he completed his Master’s in Music Composition with a dramatic setting of Mark Twain’s “The War Prayer.” In 2001, he completed his Ph.D. in Music Theory at OSU, a translation and commentary on the treatise, Brevissima Theoriae Musicae, by Johann Fricker and Friedrich Oetinger, 1753.
Gregory Mortensen
Professor, Theater Arts
Mr. Mortensen is a graduate of the Advanced Drama program of The Juilliard School for the Performing Arts in New York City. He holds a B.A. and M.F.A. in both Acting & Directing, and is a Member of Actor’s Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild, A.F.T.R.A. and The Dramatists Guild.
Martha L.Z. Pamintuan
Assistant Professor, Dance
Martha L. Zepeda Pamintuan is a Bay Area Native, choreographer, dance artist, dance educator, fitness professional and a Full-time Professor of Dance at Long Beach City College. Martha earned her MFA on a full scholarship from the University of California, Irvine in 2010 and a BA in Dance with an emphasis in Performance and Choreography, and a Minor in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University in 2006.
Tony Pearson
Production Technician, Performing Arts
Tony Pearson started working as full time staff at LBCC in 2004. He also attended LBCC as a student, completing his lower division courses before transferring to CSULB, where he earned his BA in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Costume Design, and Sound Design.
Prior to working at LBCC, Tony worked for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in the Communication Division handling public and press events.
Stephanie Powell
Program Director, Dance
Professor Stephanie Marie Powell is a California native and a tenured full Professor in Dance at Long Beach City College. Throughout her academic teaching career she has taught courses in Dance Appreciation, Choreography, Composition, Classical Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Pointe, Modern Dance, Jazz, Turns, Zumba, Dance Conditioning, Stretch and Relaxation, Dance History, Hip Hop Dance History, Performance Workshop, Yoga and Pilates.

Nathan Stuffel
Auditorium Technical Coordinator, Performing Arts
Nathan Stuffel is a Los Angeles based designer, currently serving as Auditorium Technical Coordinator, Set Designer and Technical Theatre Instructor at Long Beach City College. He holds a B.A. in Fine Art from Indiana University and is a graduate of the University of Illinois with an MFA in Theatre and Design. Nathan is also a member of the United Scenic Artists local 829.
